REAL WORLD SELF DEFENSE
If your concern is self preservation than priority #1 is to get a gun and learn how to use it. Anyone telling you differently is either lying or doesn't know any better. Learning how to accurately handle and fire your weapon is definitely a great place to start however its only the first step in your training. We are here to help you with the rest.
CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT
Most experts agree that majority of shootings happen within 10 feet. That is extremely close even if you already had your weapon out and ready to go. In a real life and death situation you will have to be able to successfully draw your weapon (most likely from a concealed position) and accurately fire it against against an aggressive moving target which is very different from shooting paper at the range.

WEAPON DEPLOYMENT
Before you can safely draw your weapon, you may have to evade punches, tackles or weapon attacks from the opponent. Our training is designed to teach you how and to when to draw your weapon against an aggressive attacker. Other times you may need to use strikes of your own to create enough distance to successfully draw your weapon. We show you simple and effective striking methods that can be used as a stand alone to incapacitate the attacker or to use as a distraction to create a window for you to draw your weapon. Its also possible to end up in a grappling situation due to losing your balance while attempting to draw or from being tackled by your attacker. We dont just address the grappling positions but we teach you how to maneuver yourself into positions where you can draw your weapon from the ground.

WEAPON RETENTION
If you carry a firearm its important to understand one truth. There will always be at least one weapon (your own) involved in every physical altercation you find yourself in. It is not only an important aspect of your self defense but a moral obligation as a protector of your community that you do everything you can to keep that weapon out of the hands of anyone but yourself. Every year Law Enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty by their own service weapon. Even if your deployment methods are on point and you are able to successfully and accurately fire your weapon you can not always count on it stopping the attacker. Our curriculum includes both in the holster retention and out of holster retention tactics on your feet as well as ground grappling situations

ALTERNATIVE WEAPONS
Anyone carrying a gun for self defense should also get a knife. It can be a lifesaver as an alternative or backup weapon and can also be valuable for retention. Our curriculum teaches both offensive tactical applications for edged weapons as well as edged weapons defense. We also cover impact weapons and improvised weapons.
USE OF FORCE OPTIONS
If all you have is a hammer everything will look like a nail. Not all situations will legally justify your use of your firearm. Even if you are within your legal rights you will have to live with the moral weight if your forced to take a life. Giving yourself more options for use of force is like having a multi tool so your not limited to only being able to increase the level of force.
SENARIO BASED TRAINING
MENTAL PERFORMANCE
FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
People often mistake caring a firearm as a solution to not have to be in good physical condition. The simple truth is that your functional fitness level will play a major factor in your performance, even if the altercation only last a few seconds. There is a reason the military has fitness requirements to join no matter how good you can shoot. No only do we incorporate functional fitness methods into our training but we use them to tax the body and then teach you to operate from that state.
Your mental and emotional state play the largest role in your success or lack of. Can you handle the adrenal dump that comes from the chaos of the altercation. Will you make the correct tactical judgment when its time to decide between fight or flight or will you get stuck and freeze.
FAQ - So cant I just practice shooting and take some martial arts or self defense classes?
Yes!!! Absolutely any additional hand to hand combat training you can add to your firearms skills will definitely help make you more well rounded. We have a martial arts branch as well and we encourage everyone to get as much training as possible however that is not what Tactical Defense is about. In a Martial Arts or Self Defense classes the goal will be to teach you to handle all situations with the skills and techniques of whatever art is being taught. Many times these lessons are taught by an instructor who is talented in his discipline of choice but has no knowledge of firearms. Almost everything in Tactical Defense is based around the gun. Most of the time when we are working hand to hand combat it is as a means to create distance to deploy our weapon, keep an attacker from taking our weapon or our weapon has malfunctioned. Even in the instances that this is not the case we are always operating under the assumption that you and or your opponent may be armed.
